I agree with Shadi. As we’ve learned since 9/11, once you securitize various dimensions of our common life, it’s very hard to roll it back. If you think the American university is lousy and safety-ist now, wait till they add antiterror cops to the political-“safety” equation.

@MsMelChen When I read the book many years ago Mariko's death made me put it down and ponder for a while. Never before have I lost a fictional character like I lost her. She was taken away from me, and I was not prepared for it.
@MsMelChen Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada are standouts in this show. I remember watching Sanada in Ninja/Samurai movies in the 80's, and he's clearly a MUCH better actor than I knew. Sawai is going to be someone to pay attention to.
