You can’t be around for 160 years without evolving. But the name RIDBC didn't tell the full story anymore. We needed a name that could speak to everyone. We are now NextSense: a not-for-profit organisation supporting people who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or have low vision.

Are we culturally Deaf people not ideal enough to be consulted and respected by @nextsenseau ? RIDBC exists because of Thomas Pattison, he made that pathway to where RIDBC is now and poof history been wiped off
Thomas Pattison established the first Deaf school in Australia, he opened the door to our beautiful Deaf community and language including cultural values and now his memory is trodden on by @nextsenseau
A part of our culturally and linguistically Deaf Community’s precious history has been removed by @nextsenseau what happened to empowering us? Our people?

We need to offer accredited training for d/Deaf to become positive Deaf Mentors for families with deaf babies and see them as Professionals
