2022 ended with a shiver, but the start of 2023 broke a sweat. 🥶🥵 This weather whiplash may have been caused by changes in the polar vortex, the band of strong westerly winds over the Arctic. Details: go.nasa.gov/3XaD4iK
The animation above shows surface air temperature (warmer in red and cooler in blue) from Dec. 2022 into early Jan. 2023. It was made by combining satellite observations with temperatures calculated by a version of the @NASAGoddard Earth Observing System (GEOS) global model.
@NASAEarth Nasa EARTH seems overly focused on a single country
@NASAEarth Oh! What polar vortex? How can that be, when every winter here is about the same! We got a lot if rain these past two weeks! Every other day! Lots of snow in the mountains! Like mist other winters! Since I was a kid!
@NASAEarth I still wonder if it's nature's backlash due to human weather manipulation.
@NASAEarth @firefisteric You cant fool me, I know exactly what this is
@NASAEarth I really hope NASA stops this. It undermines their credibility. They have access to climate data and should not politicize the climate nor play in the hands of the democrats. It is sick and I know there are tons of scientists there that think so too but can't say it (need job)
