NASA Exoplanets @NASAExoplanets
13 hours agoDiscovery Alert! 💃🏾
Six planets are locked in a rhythmic dance around their star that's so precise, you can set the orbits to music. The planets likely have been performing this dance since formation billions of years ago. go.nasa.gov/3RmSpwv

14 hours agoYou’ve visited black holes and other distant places with our Traveler. But did you know you can take your own trip to Jupiter? Well, at least your name can!
Find out how to #SendYourName aboard NASA’s @EuropaClipper mission when it launches next year: go.nasa.gov/3SDzy14

NASA Webb Telescope @NASAWebb
18 hours agoImprovise, adapt, overcome?
Rocky planets may be able to form in harsher environments than we thought. Webb detected building blocks of planets, including water & carbon dioxide, in a rocky planet-forming zone being hit by extreme ultraviolet radiation: go.nasa.gov/412bTJW

Chandra Observatory @chandraxray
18 hours agoA group of dead stars known as "spider pulsars" are obliterating nearby companion stars within their reach in Omega Centauri. Data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory is helping scientists understand how these pulsars prey on their stellar companions: s.si.edu/spiders

Hubble @NASAHubble
a day agoNASA is working to resume science operations of the Hubble Space Telescope after it entered safe mode Nov. 23 due to an ongoing gyroscope issue. Hubble’s instruments are stable, and the telescope is in good health: science.nasa.gov/missions/hubbl…

3 days agoA galactic jumble! 🌀
Many galaxies shine in this #HubbleClassic image – including a blue arc above the red galaxy at center, caused by gravitational lensing.

3 days ago#OTD in 1967, Jocelyn Bell Burnell captured the first detailed radio recording of a pulsar, revealing a train of pulses. Our NICER mission recently showed that these rapidly spinning cores of dead stars are even weirder than we thought! 🤯 More: tmblr.co/Zz_Uqj2mlOZ3j

3 days agoEverything is not as it seems 🪄
See that string at the bottom of this image? It’s made up of 2 baby stars spewing out almost parallel jets of gas. Astronomers used to think there was just one star, but Webb’s high-resolution view shows more to the story: esawebb.org/images/potm231…
