JUST IN: A Texas judge rules that a high school is not violating the CROWN Act by punishing a Black teen for refusing to cut his dreadlocks. nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/da…
A Texas high school junior has been in in-school suspension or at a disciplinary program for most of the school year because officials say his dreadlocks violate the dress code. A judge just ruled the punishment does not violate the CROWN Act. Here's what to know: nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/bl…
@NBCNews I’m so sick and tired and we will boycott Barber Hills Independent School 🚫🚫
@NBCNews I love how yall don't think school choice is a good thing when competition between schools would prevent incidents like this one.
@NBCNews No actual man should have long hair anyway... ever seen any girl fight?
I wasn't following the case. Did the school specifically sanctioned the hairstyle because the boy wearing it was black? Is that what they said - "black boys are not allowed to have dreadlocks?" Because if so, that's despicable. However, if that's the school policy for everyone, then allowing a black boy to have them would be racist, no? Unless he had some kind of a religious or health issue requiring him to have them. What am I missing? Your headline is misleading.
