One year ago, Hurricane Helene hit WNC. In the midst of this tragedy, neighbors united to rebuild their community, and first responders from across the state and country came to help. Nothing can bring back the lives lost, but we will continue to rebuild WNC in their memory.
It was my pleasure to meet with Corey Perry and Ben Popkin to learn about Nurse-Family Partnerships. Since 2000, they have helped nearly 12,000 families with home visits from trained nurses for first-time mothers.
Mayors aren’t just the backbone of our communities, they are the future of our state’s leadership. It was a privilege to join the NC Mayor's Association for their fall meeting to thank them for their work.
My dad started Smart Start in 1993 because he knew the importance of beginning education while a child’s brain is still developing. Thank you to @ncsmartstart for inviting me to their 2025 Legacy event to celebrate over thirty years of incredible work.
On Saturday, I had the honor of surprising my dear friend Jimmy Gentry with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine at the Grange convention. I've known Jimmy since we were 10 years old, and he has always been the kind of advocate for agriculture that the Grange represents.

Thank you to the soldiers at Fort Bragg for inviting me to their 9/11 remembrance ceremony this morning. It was an honor to commemorate the lives lost with the men and women protecting our freedom.
Political violence has no place in our country. My thoughts are with Charlie Kirk’s family, loved ones, and all who are grieving this senseless loss.
I had the honor of joining Blue Ridge Community Action in their 60th anniversary celebration and grand reopening after Hurricane Helene. Today, they are welcoming back students after months of rebuilding.

The Task Force on Child Care and Early Education released our initial report this summer outlining key solutions to the child care crisis — but we’re just getting started. We can’t solve this alone. Thank you, @NC_Governor, for joining our meeting today!
Families in our state are struggling to find quality, affordable child care. Things need to change — and I am working on changing them.
