Since 2014 Ukrainians have been writing ‘People Live Here’ on their houses in hopes that the Russian Army will spare their homes and their lives. It never makes any difference because the Russian military shells civilian infrastructure, military targets, and residential buildings indiscriminately. This is why I decided to call my painting “People Used to Live Here”… I dedicate it to all innocent Ukrainian civilians slaughtered by Russia in the past 10 years. My friend Olichka sings the song I chose for the video. It’s called “You know the war will end someday”. The lyrics for the song come from a poem by Maria Skochilis: “You know, the war will end someday And cities will be rebuilt over time, But those taken by heaven Will never come back again, They no longer exist, countless are dead, But why? Why such a price? They're presumably in the sky with angels, They feel calmer there because there's a war on earth, It's all so painful it breaks the heart, Where is the truth and in whose hands is life? Why does the war only touch ordinary people? And it seems it's just a game to politicians... I turn to heaven again with prayer, I beg you, God, send us serenity, So Ukraine so dear to my heart Won’t hear any more sounds of war, You know, the war will end someday And only memories will remain in hearts, I beg you, God, save my country, I pray to you, to save everyone's life...” #Ukraine #RussiaIsATerroristState
@NatalkaKyiv This is a very touching, impactful, impressive artwork, Natalka. Thank you for sharing this, and showing us the process. Somehow, I had missed your own art expression until recently. (Being aware, though, of your showcasing of artists in Ukraine.) Is this a new creative spurt?
@NatalkaKyiv Thanks for sharing Natalka. It's 🎯 💔..... and beautifull! Also compliments for singer/performer Olichka.👌🫂
@NatalkaKyiv Crying - so very sad - the loss of so many beautiful lives for greed and power. Such evil in this world. We must prevail. There is no other option.
@NatalkaKyiv This painting is inspired. It's beautiful and heartbreaking. You should put it under a glass frame to protect it, but I'm sure you could auction this for a very respectable price. If you wanted, you could probably raise some money for Ukraine doing projects like this.
