It is naive to reduce this to a war of ideas. Leftists don’t just hate “Christianity” and “the West” in some abstract sense—they actually do hate white people, and particularly the white Americans who shaped our society and white Westerners who shaped our civilization. The leftist worldview is evil, and it leads them to hate all good things, from Christianity to the goods of American society and Western civilization. The American people (a distinct historical people group, not just whoever happens to be living in America today) realized something exceptional—most notably, the highest degree of self-government in the world. Americans widely recognized this required a particular set of cultural traits and virtues that were exceptional in the world; no other people (even among other Christian peoples) achieved this at a comparable level and scale. Because this is exceptional and good, it is worth preserving, and because it is good, leftists particularly hate the people who built and preserve it. More broadly, Western peoples created an array of civilizational achievements that are likewise exceptional in the world. Analogous achievements may be possible elsewhere, but the particular achievements of the West and the particular peoples who realized them are good and worth preserving, and they are particularly hated by the left. You may believe it’s just a battle of ideas, but leftists recognize these particularly peoples—Americans and Westerners—as enemies. They are the targets of leftist attacks on “white people,” and leftists want to destroy these people. We must defeat them.

As one illustration: Maher doesn’t start by hating “free and open” because she inherently dislikes these concepts. She dislikes these concepts because she hates anything that is white/male/Western. If freedom and openness could be used to break apart that society, she would embrace them as tools (as in fact the left did last century in the US).

@NateAFischer @AntelopeHill Good post. Start calling them Anti-White and watch the magic happen
@NateAFischer I‘d have to add that if pure Germans had the entirely of the untied states available (their entire country is the size of Montana) they‘d also come our way ahead even with different form of government yet still relatively free. Same for Brit’s obviously. or Dutch.
@NateAFischer Does that not describe a war of ideas? You say they are against "white people." But is not "whiteness" simply an abstract idea? American self-government is an idea; the "West" is an idea; so too are your ideas of "achievement" and "good." Respectfully, please explain my naïveté.
To Nate’s point, the way this is carried out is how they train students in K-12 (yes even many private schools now) on how America is oppressive and to blame “white privilege”. They do this through “mental health initiatives” called Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Here are 2 screenshots from a break out training session for school counselors during their annual event. The 3rd photo was during BLM week and given to kindergartners and first graders. They aren’t teaching Critical Race Theory in schools as a one-off lesson, the entire culture is through the lens of a critical race theorist. The goal of K-12 is to produce students that has the world view and to take action like what Nate laid out above.
It is equally naive to believe a leftist on leftist battle will produce a right wing outcome. The American system of government is fundamentally leftist, and they’ve mastered the weaponization of that system against Heritage America. A way of life and the people dedicated to it built everything we see, not a form of government we discovered. Until the Civil Rights Acts are overturned and freedom of association restored, we will continue to lose everything. This will imo require a political Strongman. One who will ignore the law and constitution as much or more than the enemy does today.
@NateAFischer Those ideas come from a certain group of people. Joel being disingenuously passive aggressive again.
For the latter, the leftist activist will say that the West's standard of living and it's golden opulence was due to the rape and pillage of "black and brown indigenous peoplex" of the world. You can think it's a sophomore year at Amherst take but you'll definitely need an intellectual response to that.
