Bad move, bad news!
@NdawanaY Chinese people treasure their 'natural' land. They would rather stuff a million people in a small area than destroy the ecosystem...
@zambianperson Your point in relation to the Zambezi debacle?
@NdawanaY Yes it is. We need to treasure our ecosystems. They are irreplaceable... The damage mining leaves lasts for decades even longer than the lifespan of the mine. We can't recreate after destruction
@zambianperson At what opportunity cost to the economy. These are decisions made in response to the gallery than any home grown concerns. The govt itself has flip flopped on this. Tells you everything you need to know.
@NdawanaY Not everything must be sold for economical benefit. Look at Lusaka and its structural and social problems... We can find other ways, like tourism to monetize on that land.
@zambianperson Give me Zambia’s numbers in tourism. USA has not ratified or implemented several climate change protocols in the past due to their national interests & concerns.
@NdawanaY Our numbers are poor but there is lots of potential to monetize. Look at Rwanda, I believe we should have more attractions as compared to them...
@zambianperson 60 years since independence you have had your tourism, any significant contribution to the economy? Besides, lower Zambezi is one of several national parks, and it’s only a portion of it. This is not a homegrown decision, we have been forced on this path.
@NdawanaY Lack of innovation and exposure. Many would agree with government if they knew the potential.
@zambianperson We have a record of insignificant tourism contributions to the economy. 60 years. Besides there is still plenty of national parks, including huge expanse of the same #LowerZambezi.
