Smart meters and other energy appliances such as heat pumps will be equipped with a surge pricing function under plans being put forward by ministers. The proposals under consultation would require a string of devices to be “smart” by default, allowing them to take advantage of so-called time of use tariffs that charge households more for electricity when demand is highest and less when it is lower. However, critics fear they could penalise customers for consuming electricity when they need it most. #CostOfNetZero 👉 telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/…
@NetZeroWatch Only the rich get to use power when they need it! Time to ditch the futile UK net zero strategy. #VoteReform
@NetZeroWatch @LyncGreen Well who’d have thought. Funny how us tin foil hatters have been stating this is the reason for the roll out of them. Prices jumping day and night for a multitude of reasons.
@NetZeroWatch I favour surge pricing in principle but not in a market that has been rigged to artificially inflate surged prices. It will be a disaster for the lower paid. If energy policy was built around customer needs surge pricing would be fine.
@NetZeroWatch This was supposed to be a conspiracy theory
@NetZeroWatch ‘Ministers think the best way to limit global warming, is to charge you more to have dinner at dinner time’ We voted for this apparently.
