Meet our speakers for tomorrow’s webinar on the nexus between the @_AfricanUnion’s #AfCFTA and Free Movement Protocol! Date and Time: October 9, 2024, | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CAT. The AfCFTA represents a monumental step towards economic integration and sustainable development across Africa. As one of the largest free-trade areas in the world, the AfCFTA has the potential to reshape the economic landscape of the continent by creating a single market for goods and services, facilitating free movement, and fostering greater cooperation among African nations. Furthermore, the successful implementation of the AfCFTA is closely linked to the full ratification of the Free Movement Protocol. The AfCFTA’s goal of creating an economically borderless Africa relies on the effective implementation of the FMP.
We have an exciting line up of panellists including; Mr Brian Chigawa; former Migration Advisor at COMESA; Ms.Achieng Akena; Executive Director, International Refugee Rights Initiative (IRRI); Ms. Silindile Mlilo , African Centre for Migration Studies, University of Witwatersrand; Ms. Yavi Madurai, Founder of Africa Prosperity Fund and Ms. Ruth Kangwa, a Human Rights and Governance Lawyer.
Topics to be tackled include: Identifying key challenges and opportunities in the implementation of AfCFTA and FMP; Prospects for the AfCFTA and FMP in Africa’s integration agenda; The role of emerging trends and technologies in facilitating integration; Anticipated impact on economic growth, job creation, and regional stability; and perspectives and contributions of women and youth in the Implementation of AfCFTA and the Free Movement Protocol. This is the final in a series of two webinars slated for the month of October 2024, organized in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. @gift_mugano @ReserveBankZIM I also think production alone is not enough as long as there is no trust in the institutions running the financial system. I'd hazard a guess that pretty much all the deposits in Zim are transitory so how do you grow an economy in an environment like that.
