Physics-Informed Neural Networks often fail due to a hidden problem: gradient conflict. The data loss says "go right." The physics loss says "go left." Standard balancing makes it worse, equal opposing gradients cancel out completely. Training stalls. Our new method, CGGS, adds a sigmoid gate that detects conflict using cosine similarity and suppresses the physics signal only when it's fighting the data. Our new publication proposes the use of modular arithmetic to define distinct seasonal transmission rates with a smooth transition. We believe this is the first kind. - Unlike sinusoidal models, which struggle with sharp transmission shifts, the modular approach captures abrupt changes linked to school terms and behavioral changes. - A two-stage optimization process was employed: a coarse grid search followed by stochastic refinement. - The model produced recurrent seasonal outbreaks, with effective reproduction numbers oscillating around the epidemic threshold.
