A couple in Vancouver say they’re packing up and moving out of the city because it’s unaffordable to live there any longer. While they make good money, she explains it’s no longer viable for them to stay as they struggle with the cost of living. vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/02/01/van…
@CityNewsVAN CC: Everyone who isn't a boomer and didn't have the luxury of buying a house for $5 in the 80s that is now worth $5 million.
@NiksterPen @CityNewsVAN Exactly right. Plus, current generations aren't thinking retirement yet and putting anything away for their future. Ya gotta start young and work hard if you want any future. Something that is lost on a lot of people, then they point fingers at others who prepared early.
@NiksterPen @CityNewsVAN Hmmm, I’m a boomer and didn’t get my house for $5 in the 80s and it sure isn’t worth $5m now…
@NiksterPen @CityNewsVAN Well, technically I am a boomer (on the edge). Rented till I was 40 in early 2000s when I could finally afford a down payment on a house that had had a fire, was not habitable (no kitchen just a burned out stove) and spent 10 years renovating room by room. Still not worth $5m.
@NiksterPen @CityNewsVAN Some boomers were still in high school in 1980!
