A visual novel. 2014–2017, the person in the front row. Chapter 1 out now in English & Chinese. AI-imitated voices.nooneelsegame.comJoined September 2026
Much later, she told him where the SIM card idea came from.
"Spy dramas. The ones I used to watch."
"Our escape plan came from TV?"
"It worked, didn't it?"
September 4, 2017. Tokyo.
They had landed a few hours earlier and neither of them had looked up from their phone since. Both SIM cards spent the whole flight in their pockets.
Soon everyone would just call that day 9/4.
July 13, 2017. The night before the exchange went live.
He calls her one more time. Silence on the line. He needs one more sentence.
What he says next is up to you. A scene from Chapter 1.
Every company needs a name. Theirs took a few seconds.
She thought for a moment and said two characters. He and his cofounder looked at each other.
The game doesn't spell them out either. You probably know which two.
Before every release the game is played automatically: landing page to first line, English and Chinese, desktop and phone.
The release fails if a request fails, the console shows an error, or a locked chapter is reachable.
It only ships when all four pass.
Hangzhou, 2014. Half the internet says bitcoin is dead, and he is on stage talking about it anyway.
Afterwards she pushes through the crowd to the front.
"So you're the CZ from the group chat."
That is how No One Else begins. Chapter 1 is free in your browser.
If the game server goes down, the site falls back to a static copy.
That copy opens chapter one only and shows no gallery. Locked content is not part of it.
Players never see a broken menu, and locked chapters never leak out through the back door.
To prove you hold, you sign a short message with your wallet.
No gas, no approval, no transfer. The signature is checked server side and you get a cookie for a day.
If your wallet has nothing in it, nothing changes. The chapter menu stays grey.
The unlock bar is not a graphic we update by hand.
It reads the token from the chain every minute and needs two readings in a row before opening anything, so one price spike does not unlock a chapter.
If the chain read fails, nothing opens.
Holders get four side stories, one per chapter, plus the full art gallery and the music room.
The side stories are tonally different from the main line. One is a strip of photos that should never have gone up. One is about a pair of shorts.
Short, and the funniest things here.
Chapters two, three and four are already finished. Painted, voiced, tested.
They are not public yet.
The chapter menu shows them greyed out with what each one needs to open. The first opens when the project itself does.
Here is the part you cannot do in a normal visual novel.
Later chapters open as the token grows: graduation, then two market milestones. Once open, open permanently.
Holders see the endings the public chapters do not show.
A locked chapter is not just hidden in the menu.
The files sit behind the game server, not in the public folder. Asking for the file directly without permission returns nothing.
We tested that by hand: normal play opens it, direct access does not.
Most visual novels track affection. This one tracks trust.
The main character is a colleague and a co-founder, not a love interest. Trust goes up when you show up for the work, and down when you do not.
It decides how the story ends.
Chapter one is open to everyone, right now, at no cost.
It covers the first meeting, the years of night shifts, and the day he decided to leave.
Roughly an hour of reading. Playable on a phone.
Four chapters, 2014 to 2018.
Choices are not decoration. Trust carries across chapters, and the last one has four different endings depending on how you played and what you said at the end.
Some endings are only reachable one way.
The narrator reads in the same voice as the main character.
It is his memory of these years, after all.
0.95 speed, no emotion pushed in. He is telling it, not performing it.
The game ships in two languages.
English loads first for anyone whose browser is not set to Chinese, and both scripts are hand written, not translated line by line from the other.
Same scenes, same choices, same four endings.
Five looping tracks: daily scenes, tension, a warm one, a sad one, and the theme.
Written to loop for a minute so a long scene does not restart the music under your dialogue.
No lyrics. Nothing that fights what you are reading.
Key moments are painted at full width.
The first meeting. The night the rankings came in. The photograph shoot where he could not relax. A beach anniversary with the whole team.
Over forty of them now, including the ones behind hidden endings.
