BC govt rejected my request to get funding for ADHD meds. didn't meet their criteria (which were made with NO input from ADHD specialists)
A 13 y/o patient gave a talk about ADHD to her school. They loved it. Now she's been asked to speak at 2 other schools. Word's out!
Sad to see parents arguing whether their son should get ADHD treatment. In 10 years, he'll be back, frustrated and crying. Why?
Treated patient: I'm not frustrated with homeowrk. I'm better at listening. I can maintain my train of thought and articulate complex ideas.
The combination of anxiety and ADHD can be brutal. Seek perfection, afraid to make mistakes, then constantly under-perform. Ouch!
Treating your ADHD helps you do the boring stuff that you would otherwise put off. It's true.
Even though I am an ADHD doc, I still find I am bing judgmental when people are late, are distracted or interrupt me. I should know better
There is nothing scarier than a 17 year old with ADHD and a lot of attitude. What could you possibly say that would make them take notice?
ADHDers lose stuff: Phones, keys, luggage. Imagine all the grief, time and money saved if they were treated, and those mistakes were avoided
Pt says: With medication I can pay attention in night school. I'm top of my class. I wish I'd started this in undergrad. It's a shame really
Being on medication improves parenting. I'm more patient with my kids. It's easier to get ready, so I don't have to rush because we are late
