This will be our final tweet and we want to say #goodbye by reminding you to #donate to and #volunteer at your #local #foodbank and try to #spreadawareness about #foodscarcity in #NovaScotia and the rest of the world.
This month, our most needed items are peanut butter and canned meats! To make a donation: 🍎 Donations can be brought to an Ottawa Food Bank donation bin at a grocery store near you 🍎 Visit our warehouse at 1317 Michael Street during business hours to drop off a donation
One of the biggest reasons for food insecurity in #NovaScotia is due to low income and high food prices. A great way to help this change is to protest and spread awareness.
Today marks the beginning of the #GivingChallengeCA! Give back to your community this summer by donating funds and food items (canned or fresh) to Parker Street, Nova Scotia’s largest independent food and furniture bank.
Food banks in #NovaScotia that you should donate to are Food Bank Inter-Church in #Bridgewater, Chester Lighthouse Food Bank in #Chester, Halifax West Ecumenical Food Bank in #Halifax, and Colchester Food Bank in #Truro
Food scarcity is a big problem in Nova Scotia. We plan to help spread information about how to help people with food scarcity issues.
The only other region in #Canada with similar rates of #foodinsecurity to #NovaScotia is Nunavut, which has a 25% smaller population than Nova Scotia.
The Maritimes is the poorest region of Canada and Nova Scotia is the poorest province in the region.
It is pretty infuriating. Do you know what actually causes panicked mobs at grocery stories, food scarcity, and inflation? Conservative MPs sharing pics of empty grocery shelves that are in the UK instead of Canada. There are stories about food scarcity, but don’t share fake pics

June is #NationalIndigenousHistoryMonth. This month, the Ottawa Food Bank will be focused on sharing learnings from Indigenous knowledge holders and community organizations on #IndigenousFoodSovereignty to continue challenging colonial ideas and practices. ottawafoodbank.ca/national-indig…
Nova Scotia has highest rate of food insecurity Not surprising given that the primary determinant of food insecurity is income @chronicleherald thechronicleherald.ca/opinion/local-…
Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Nova Scotia has the lowest minimum wage, the highest concentration of low-income people, and the highest rate of food insecurity in the country. It's time to take action. #nspoli #cdnpoli #EndPoverty
Improving the #MentalHealth of Canadians must include addressing socioeconomic inequities like #FoodInsecurity. Here is some of the Canadian research showing the strong links between food insecurity and poor mental health. #MentalHealthMatters 🧵(1/8)
Homophobia and transphobia are food security issues. Discrimination in housing and employment can lead to higher rates of poverty, and violence and discrimination can lead to mental health issues, all of which are linked to food insecurity.
7.8% of homes in #NovaScotia are moderately food insecure while 3.8% of homes in Nova Scotia are severely food insecure. Please donate to your local food bank!

@JustinTrudeau What about the 7 out of every 10 Indigenous children living in poverty that make up 4% of this population? What of them? What about their food insecurity? They are charged $80.00 for a God damn watermelon that I pay $5.00 for in Nova Scotia. What about that? Seriously!

A Conservative MP’s photo of an ‘empty Canadian grocery store’ was actually taken in Northern England, not Canada. Canadian conservatives have repeatedly shared misleading photos of grocery stores on social media over the last week. pressprogress.ca/conservative-m… #cdnpoli #cdnmedia
