As you may know, I believe that only through giving clear predictions of how certain technology or innovation can and will be used in the future, is that when you truly understand them and their potential.
For ENS, I narrowed it down to: 1. CEXes and Wallets 2. SDKs, APIs, tools & services (Wallet-as-a-Service & AA) 3. ENS Community 4. ENS Builders 5. ENS Labs + DAO 6. Games and Metaverses 7. Decentralized Websites 8. Decentralized Social Networks 9. DNS managers (Gasless DNSSEC)
1. CEXes & Wallets I believe that CEXes are the driving force behind the potential mass adoption of .eth names. @coinbase issued 2M cb .id names and could reach close to 100M in the next cycle if they onboard only their existing users.
@rainbowdotme wallet made it easy for users to register their .eth name and get an ENS profile, setting a great example for other wallets to follow. They have around 30M users according to CoinDesk's article, that could all have ENS IDs and social profiles.
2. SDKs, APIs, tools & services (Wallet-as-a-Service and AA) Big companies face challenges in onboarding users to the world of crypto due to limited education. Wallet-as-a-Service eliminates these obstacles by integrating smart wallets as an integral part of their business.
Major brands like Puma, Budweiser, Gucci, Coca-Cola, Tiffany, OnlyFans, NBA, & more, who bought .eth names, have the potential to onboard millions of users onto ENS, paving the way for mass adoption. Not sure how ENS names will be used but innovation and creativity are certain!
3. ENS community (<3) The ENS community has played a revolutionary role in the success of the ENS protocol in the web3 space. They have created insane hype around .eth names, leading to increased demand and major adoption of ENS names among end users and traders.
The ENS community has contributed significantly to the adoption of ENS by creating various clubs and private communities centered around ENS. They have also educated others through platforms like Twitter spaces and gifted .eth names to friends, family, and even local businesses.
4. ENS Builders The health of a chain or protocol relies heavily on the ecosystem built around it! ENS has established itself as the premier naming system in the web3 world, thanks to a strong network of partnerships and their determined commitment to ecosystem builders!
Lots of projects are leveraging the unique features of ENS, including messaging, domains, websites, identity, management, and overall naming. These projects have the potential to attract new ENS users and inspire further innovation. I'll try to touch on every mentioned vertical:
