Games weren’t better in the past, we just can’t accept that we’re unable to enjoy things like we used to when we were young.
Nostalgia plays a big part but honestly the problem nowadays is no one risktakes, it's all safe bet IPs now, we don't even get sequels to those either, it's all just micro updates and 'content updates' Bring me back to the PS2/PS3/Xbox/Xbox 360/GCN/Wii days, at least then we had variety. and yes I play thousands of indie games.
@ObsoleteSony Then explain the games that released currently I think are good while I think most AAA games are still ass
@ObsoleteSony I don’t agree, games in the past were more like indie games, had new concepts and weren’t afraid of being challenging. Most current AAA games found a safe formula that they keep repeating, and the eased the gameplay, being a boring, hand-holding, slightly interactive experience.
100% wrong, for two reasons: Games were novel in the past. The vast majority of modern games are prettier to look at and have higher production values, but are merely iterations of the same old concepts. Games had to be tight and optimized back then. Modern games are buggy, bloated messes, and loaded with literal filler to make it last longer without any regard as to whether all that extra "content" is enjoyable.
@ObsoleteSony AAA gaming is a waste land. The games are too expensive to produce for the publishers to take any risks.
Games were absolutley better in the past. It wasn't mainstream yet so they were still appealing to their target audience islnstead of trying to reduce everything down to the lowest common denominator to appeal to the highest number of people. The perfect example of this is always Bethesda. Look at Morrowind compared to Starfield. Morrowind was a niche game, designed to appeal to a specific player base that ended up bringing new people into that genre of games. It had intricate skill systems, magic systems and allowed you customize your play style to be different each time. Starfield was designed from the start to appeal to the most people possible. Every time you play it you're going to use the same exact weapons, and the same exact play style. Sure you might choose to craft your guns instead of buy them, but it's still the same gun.
@ObsoleteSony THIS GUY: Your chocolate ration is WAY larger now! US: GamesTM commented in 2004: "Of all the characters available, B. Orchid proved to be among the most popular. Whether that was down to her ease of use or the fact that her chest bounced around like crazy remains a mystery.."
@ObsoleteSony #BaldursGate3 has dong jiggle but not boob jiggle for the same reason all the female faces in the game look distinctly masculine.
@ObsoleteSony I do think there was a novelty to earlier games that’s lost in most games today
