@lemire @dlingenfelter Besides, the influenza virus doesn’t persist. That’s why long flu will actually be shorter than long covid.

@lemire @dlingenfelter Only small percentage of those infected with flu are PCR-tested. So the study actually says that severe flu causes func limitations as often as covid. And people get infected with covid much more frequently so the impact is more pronounced.

@Jean__Fisch Different vaccines have different safety profiles. NZ never vaccinated with notorious adenovirus vector vaccines, now discontinued due to serious adverse effects. UK, EU, Australia all started mass vaccination with AZ. mRNAs were added later.

@CollignonPeter “Mask choice was determined by clinical role where surgical masks were the default choice for those in roles where enhanced respiratory protection was not considered applicable.”

NEW: Generative AI is already taking white collar jobs An ingenious study by @xianghui90 @oren_reshef @Zhou_Yu_AI looked at what happened on a huge online freelancing platform after ChatGPT launched last year. The answer? Freelancers got fewer jobs, and earned much less

@GidMK One caveat here. Omicron BA.1 had lower ability to cause LC. Unlike BA.2. And BA.5 was even more able to cause LC. That may be a trend…

@GidMK 2 new long-term (possibly life-long) neurological diagnoses per 100 person-years. That is scary. Probably, a tip of the iceberg for kids poorly communicate their issues so mild and slow-developing problems are undetected.

@GidMK Participants in other studies are asked whether they have symptom A, symptom B, symptom C… They are not required to establish association between COVID they had and the symptoms they have.

@GidMK Perhaps, this study was an optimistic outlier because of the question actually asked. A lot of people now believe COVID is harmless, they know little about COVID let alone LC. Kids know even less.
