U.S. Congress declares chanting ‘From the River to the sea, Palestine will be free’ is antisemitic hate speech. The phrase, used by Palestinian activists, calls for incitement of violence and genocide against Jewish people. The house passed H.R. 883, a bipartisan bill declaring the chant antisemitic. The resolution passed the House by a vote of 377-44-1. All but one of the 44 that opposed the bill were Democrats including Rahsida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley and Ilhan Omar. The only Republican to oppose it was an Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY). Source: Office of Rep. Josh Gottheimer
