Do you read the study that you post? You're confusing total African ancestry with Mota-specific drift. That Figure 3 chart uses chromopainter forced into only 3 proxies which is Egypt/Dinka/Mota. Because Mota is local to Ethiopia, it dumps and eats up the whole 50% East African side into Mota. But In formal qpAdm/G25 models with broader baselines, highlanders have ~40-45% total Ancestral East African, but only 2-6% excess Mota/Omotic clade drift on top of the Proto-Cushitic base.
