The "PING" on your cardiac monitor can be high, especially in your hypothermic or low cardiac output patients. SpO2 lag is real, and yes, it makes a difference where you place your SpO2 probe. litfl.com/respiratory-mo… emcrit.org/emcrit/oxygen-…
We should all be doing it… it’s 2021 and there’s plenty of FOAMed that highlights these very important steps to improve not only the likelihood of patient survival, but can also improve overall patient outcome.

Most pre-hospital providers (or all for that matter) make the airway difficult for themselves as opposed to truly encountering a “difficult airway.” Poor preparation, poor optimization, poor positioning... not using a paralytic... 🤦♂️ Difficult? or, did the approach blow chunks?
Would another blog on RSI be over doing it? Or, maybe another aspect of it? Or would picking apart the “7 P’s” be a better approach? Boom! 💥
If your patient has a pulse and you are intubating, you should be using a paralytic. If your protocol calls for a sedation only “RSI,” I’m sorry and your medical director is wrong. 😏😁.
