Did you know it's National Agriculture Week? Students at Richlands Elementary sure did, and they have been celebrating! In addition to learning about agriculture and farming equipment this week, students got to welcome some brand-new chicks to their classroom!

Last night, middle school students from all over the county competed in the 2023 Middle School Spelling Bee! Adoreon Jackson, an 8th grader from Northwoods Park Middle, came in first place. Dakota Monday, an 8th grader from Swansboro Middle, came in second. Congratulations!

Tuesday night, elementary students from across the county competed in the 2023 Elementary Spelling Bee! Tucker Snyder, a 3rd grader from Dixon Elementary, took first place, and Zakiyah Afoutou, a 5th grader from Jacksonville Commons Elementary, came in second. Congratulations!

Musical season kicks off tomorrow night! Catch "Anastasia" at White Oak High March 23, 24 and 25 at 7 p.m. Swansboro High will put on "Clue the Musical" March 24 at 7 p.m., March 25 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and March 26 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

At today's United Way Campaign Celebration, OCS won the Circle of Excellence Award for the education division, and SWES Principal Laurie Strope won the annual campaign car giveaway! Thank you to United Way of Onslow County & our employees who contributed to this year's campaign!

Today, OCS hosted the Future Teachers Conference for students across the county interested in a career in education! The students learned about the steps they must take to become educators and spoke with representatives from 5 colleges & the College Foundation of North Carolina.
