The Aztec Empire,a thread.
Imagine a vast city filled with temples, busy markets and canals built on an island in a lake and almost ruled the world . This was Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Mexica, commonly known as the Aztecs.
The turning point

The surprising detail
The city had busy markets, temples and waterways. Farmers also used chinampas carefully constructed plots in shallow lake areas to grow food.
