We need to ensure people with intellectual disabilities and autism are supported. To do that we need to take care of the people who take care of them. I am asking my colleagues for state aid to fairly compensate the life saving work of direct support professionals.

Today self-advocates, families, direct support professionals (DSP), service providers, & state legislators gathered in the Capitol Rotunda urging the General Assembly to add **$430 million to the State budget for DSP wages. We need $430 million!
This issue is close to my heart. DSP’s deserve to be paid like the vital professionals they are!
Together, @senjimmydillon and @SenatorComitta have introduced legislation that would ensure direct support professionals are properly compensated for the work they do with people with intellectual disability and autism.
