I love the simplicity of Scottie Scheffler range sessions. No launch monitor. Not even an alignment stick. His swing coach Randy Smith never lays hands on him or pantomimes positions. I feel like the only time I see Smith, Scheffler and Ted Scott talk, it's because they're laughing about something. Scottie uses the same club with a molded grip that you hand to a beginner. He holds the club in his right hand, rolling the ball into position. Then he replaces it with his left hand, raising the clubhead in the air until the shaft is parallel to the ground. That's when he re-unites his two hands and raises the clubhead until the shaft is perpendicular to the ground. He looks at the clubface to make sure it is properly aligned and lowers the club behind the ball. Then it's a series of myriad shot shapes. Gentle draws and fades. High shots and low shots. A thing of beauty.
@PGATOURSMartin do you have any video of this? would love to see it.
@PGATOURSMartin If it’s working, it looks like genius. But…
@PGATOURSMartin Simple isn’t always easy… but he makes it so
@PGATOURSMartin I agree with you because he sees it as a feel game unlike other players.
@PGATOURSMartin And not a better caddie that JTed Scott. He is very fortunate to have him
@PGATOURSMartin Scottie is the best player in the world right now by a wide margin. His swing coach should take a trip to, and remain in, Bora Bora, or somewhere else far away.
@PGATOURSMartin When Randy asks him “is your hip set” what does he mean??
@PGATOURSMartin If Scheffler wins, we gotta say @jtedscott is one of the all time great caddies in @TheMasters history. Will have looped two two-time winners!! And rescued a Patrons buckets hat on 17 in a windstorm in 2016!!!
