Kyle Hendricks is a Cubs legend, someone who’s constantly risen to the occasion, figured things out and represented the organization with class. But his downfall is the awkward part of the team’s good start. There may be difficult decisions ahead. ⬇️ theathletic.com/5424536/2024/0…
@PJ_Mooney @sahadevsharma I still think they should give him some time. I think he will be effective . But how do you do that? Can he go to minors for a few starts?
@PJ_Mooney A stint on the IL for real or phantom pain. Work in pitch lab and see if tweaks and changes improve his command / results. If that doesn’t work, the tough decision and talks happen. Kyle can’t keep pitching this way.
@PJ_Mooney I may have short term memory problems but doesn’t kyle always start the year pretty awful?
@PJ_Mooney The club can't afford to lose another pitcher right now. I'm hoping Taillon does well today, but there's no guarantee. Hoping Hendricks improves. I don't want another embarrassing Arrieta exit. #YouHaveToSeeIt
@PJ_Mooney Hendricks' skill set has always been one of having very little margin of error. TBH, it's amazing he's lasted this long on his diet of precise location, late movement, and out-thinking hitters. But adding a lollipop curve hasn't helped, and the #Cubs need to move on.
