On his 73rd birthday, our father Imran Khan remains locked in a death cell - 790 days without his family, without his doctors, without his lawyers. Yet his courage endures. We must not give up, because he never will.

On the holiest day of the year we are attacked at a Manchester synagogue. Our children walk to school behind barbed wire protected by guns. Yet some still answer this atrocity with “what about…” This is my country, the sanctuary my grandfather found after surviving the Holocaust, promising freedom under the rule of law. Today I pray for the victims, thank the brave who responded and wonder if that promise is fading. A community this small cannot stand alone. If you believe in Britain (wherever you’re from & whatever your faith) you must stand with us. Many Jews cannot imagine a future here and history tells us what follows when that happens.

PRO-TIP: If you're the jerk who snatched Majchrzak's cap out of the child's hand I'd get out in front of this. Find out how to get the hat back to the kid and make a public apology. This won't end well unless you make it right quickly.

Photo of the day.

This is thuggery from Trump and Vance, plain and simple. They are bullying the brave true patriot Zelensky into accepting a deal which effectively hands victory to Russia. Unless the UK and Europe step up, we are facing a betrayal of Ukraine.

Ondrea and Ceasar prayed for a family. After she and her husband learned her baby girl would not survive, Ondrea was denied standard medical care because she lives in a state with a Trump Abortion Ban. Now, she may never have children. Trying to bring this to the attention of UK Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy who is - as yet - unresponsive. (Annoyingly, I don’t seem to be as well connected & in control as the conspiracy theorists in Pakistan suggest I am)

I usually don’t comment on Pakistani politics. I disagree with IK on many political issues. But this is not about politics- it’s about my children’s father, his human rights & international law. For the past few years, I’ve been bullied & harassed into silence by PML-N goons, including rape threats & countless conspiracy theories. Meanwhile Twitter/ X is banned in Pakistan, PTI party members & civilian supporters have been abducted, anyone with a platform who was speaking out is now in jail & silenced, Imran Khan’s photo and name have been censored on state television (they have even redacted his image from any coverage of Pakistan’s World Cup win of 92!) I owe it to my children to try to create some awareness about what is happening in Pakistan. Please help in any way that you can. Thank you.

In the last few weeks there have been serious and concerning developments regarding my sons’ father, Imran Khan’s treatment in prison. The Pakistan authorities have stopped all visits to him by his family and his lawyers. They have also postponed all court hearings. In addition to cutting off in- person visits, and in defiance of a court order, his weekly calls to his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, who are British and who live in London, were stopped on 10th September. We have received reports that the authorities have now turned off the lights and electricity in his cell and he is no longer allowed to leave his cell at any time. The jail cook has been sent on leave. He is now completely isolated, in solitary confinement, literally in the dark, with no contact with the outside world. His lawyers are concerned about his safety and well-being.   These actions come in the context of ongoing targeting of Imran’s family, as well as his party (PTI) members and supporters in an attempt to silence them and all political opposition in Pakistan. Imran’s nephew, Hassan Niazi, a civilian, has been detained in military custody since August 2023. More recently, Imran Khan’s sisters, Uzma and Aleema Khan, who have continued to speak out on his behalf, have also been arrested as they made their way peacefully to a demonstration and they are currently being held in jail, despite there being no proper or lawful basis for their imprisonment.   In June this year the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found that Imran is unlawfully and arbitrarily detained and called for his immediate release.    As a matter of urgency , we are calling for Imran Khan’s release, and for the release of his sisters and nephew as well as for his sons’ contact with their father to be re-established, so that they may have assurance first-hand that he is well and not being mistreated.

A message to Sir Keir Starmer & Lisa Nandy. Please share, thank you.

What a lovely tweet from Ed. I know they would have been proud of him today.

I’m missing our dear friends Paddy and Charles especially today. They would have loved these results – especially seeing the Liberal Democrats winning back their old seats in Somerset and the Highlands!

I’ve just come across this documentary about three hair salons in Blackpool in 1994 and oh my God, it’s sheer perfection. I’ll leave you with some highlights; Gwen’s whisky, the incident at Kwiksave, the funeral bag and the death of Maureen.
