Thank you for reading, and listening. I am ALWAYS happy to answer questions about infertility, IVF and my journey, because WAY too many people suffer in silence and shame, feeling like less of a person, like a failure. Speaking up and being open fights that stigma. 🤍🤍

My doctor was very empathetic. They did their best to give me a discount on the following round and got me a few of the (REALLY EXPENSIVE, 2k a needle) stim pens for free. It was still 13k. We got 1 embryo from that round. Guess what happened. 👉(cont)

But we waited anyways. What else could we do? Our second round was the most catastrophic failure. We only got 4 eggs... and all of them were immature. Immature eggs can't be fertilized. So the entire 20k round was a bust. I've never been so crushed.👉(cont)

So we were on pause for god knows how long. Given my disease (which is progressive! It gets worse over time) I was devastated. That scan we had before all the clinics were shut down for months due to COVID was the best scan I'd ever had and ever would have again. 👉(cont)

I'm not a quitter. I started saving. We switched clinics. Our new Reproductive Endocrinologist had been through IVF herself and was amazing and empathetic. We were about to start our 2nd round and then... Fucking COVID hit. 👉

Blastocyst is the phase where they can "transfer" it, at least the one with the best chance. Everyone said "It only takes one!" In our case, it didn't take. I don't think I left my bed/couch for two weeks after we got that devastating news. I wasn't sure how to go on. 👉

IVF was very hard on my body. I was on HEAVY hormone stimulation for 13 days. And even then, I was barely getting 10 follicles growing. Most people get double that. I only got 6 eggs out of that round. 4 fertilized. Only 1 made it to blastocyst. 👉(cont)

So we went on with our first of three IVF rounds. Ontario covers 1 IVF but no meds. That round still costed us 8k in medications. And my NEEDLE PHOBIC ASS had to learn very quickly how to inject 3-4 needles into my stomach every night. 👉(cont)

I was stubborn. I couldn't accept that my tubes were blocked so I opted for another surgery with an endo surgeon. At the same time I did start with an IVF clinic just in case the surgery didn't fix my tubes (it didn't). That surgery took my fallopian tubes completely. 👉(cont)

I remember my OBGYN telling me I had the 2nd worst case of endometriosis she'd ever seen; it was so complex she couldn't even try to fix it. My tubes were absolutely blocked and destroyed. She told me my only way to have a family was IVF. I felt like I'd been hit by a truck 👉

My husband and I started trying to start a family in 2016. After a year of active trying nothing was happening so I saw an OBGYN who found a mass on one of my ovaries and was like "it's probably nothing but let's remove it". That surgery found Stage 4 endometriosis 👉(cont)
