Now, as Pakistanis have taken to the streets to protest my father’s release, Asim Munir’s regime imposes emergency rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (my father’s political stronghold). Having failed to secure Balochistan or Azad Kashmir, Munir once again invokes terrorism to justify another military operation in Pashtun lands. Yet again sacrificing lives in an attempt to cling on to power. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s democratic mandate must be restored. My father, our detained family members, PTI representatives and all political prisoners must be released immediately. The people’s right to peaceful protest must be respected. Pakistan belongs to its people, not its military.

Currently, my Aunties are still abducted. Family and lawyers have received no update on how they are, nor why they are incarcerated. Concerning my father, there is complete silence. My brother and I have had no contact with him for more than six months. We do not even know the true state of his health. Meanwhile, thousands of Pakistanis are peacefully taking to the streets to protest against his illegal and politically motivated imprisonment. However, the people of Pakistan have not given up. No barricade, intimidation or repression can muzzle the people’s demand for justice and their democratic right to be heard. There can be no lasting peace or stability while their democratic will is suppressed and their chosen leader remains behind bars.

My friend nearly died giving birth at Kings College Hospital during a traumatic birth a few days ago. Labour for 30 hours, lost over 4 litres of blood. Her baby’s face left cut and badly swollen (still not sure if his vision in one eye has been permanently damaged). She was cut open and has been distraught. She said she had been in agony but it was dismissed with one staff member saying ‘it can’t be that bad’. I can’t tell you how angry I am at how her and her family were treated.

For shame. The president of the United States goes to the United Nations and threatens genocide against a UN member state in front of the world. This is where we’re at.

My statement on Israel's decision to ban me and 10 other British MPs from entry. "I have visited all parts of Palestine on several occasions, where I have witnessed the horrors of occupation, as well as the resilience and humanity of the Palestinian people. They are the ones who suffer from Israel's apartheid. It is their freedom which is egregiously curtailed, alongside thousands of Palestinian refugees who are denied the right of return. As the world wakes up to the genocide in Gaza, it is shocking that Israel continues to deny entry to UN investigators and international journalists. Israel doesn't want the world to see what it is doing - but we can never give up in our attempts to expose the truth. That is the real scandal. Israel’s genocide cannot go unpunished - and I will keep speaking up for peace, freedom and justice for the Palestinian people."

I welcome the stance taken by the UK government on Israel’s occupation and its illegality. A much-needed beginning, even if it does not yet reverse all policies undermining Palestinian self-determination. May the UK government and people hold firm. The pressure will be fierce.
