Sources: Troy has agreed to a new four-year contract for coach Jon Sumrall, which includes a pay raise, increased staff salary pool and additional program investments for players.
Troy won the Sun Belt in Sumrall’s first year, has the country’s second longest win streak at 11 games and finished No. 19 in AP poll. He’s extended through 2026 season.
@PeteThamel This is more about upping the "buyout" so when he goes the school gets paid to help find a replacement
@PeteThamel @PeteThamel love your work, we have to get a better pic for a headline though. Maybe this one...
@PeteThamel Good for them! Sumrall is a hell of a coach! He deserves it. Glad to see Troy realizes who they have.
@PeteThamel Jon is a world class coach and the perfect fit for Troy. Super happy for him and that program.
@PeteThamel @CoachVollono Well-deserved. Speaks to who @CoachJonSumrall is that he got additional money for his staff. Ass’t coaches around country will take notice of HC that takes care of his guys.
@PeteThamel But that's what smart programs do. Understand that you are that stepping stone and structure deals to help the program be stable as part of that upward mobility of quality young coaches.
