Aishah Siregar, 20, texted her mother Tuesday morning to say she was going to school. She flew to Cambodia that afternoon.
When her family went to collect her, her WhatsApp and Telegram accounts had been deleted, her phone line was dead, and her passport was gone from the house.
After Cambodian authorities found Aishah in Cambodia, the Phnom Penh police chief posted a video of her clarification in which she stated her reason for coming to Cambodia, following reports of her being missing: she said that because her living condition in Singapore was
@jacobincambodia Jumping to “scam center” stereotypes every time someone is missing in Cambodia is just crazy and unfair. When a 20-year-old Singaporean went uncontactable in Phnom Penh, Cambodian authorities acted immediately and found her safe within days.
Fleeing for safety, young students in the O’Smach area of Oddar Meanchey were sent home today as fresh tension and artillery fire from Thailand started up again.

Thai Army Must Be Outright Honest in Dealing With Cambodia and the Thai Public
By Pravit Rojanaphruk @PravitR
I strongly reprimand the Royal Thai Army for initially reporting that they did not return fire, and then admitting an hour later that they did return fire, while also claiming that Cambodian soldiers used Cambodian civilians as human shields. This issue does not just affect the credibility of the Royal Thai Army, but also impacts Thailand's credibility in the eyes of the world.
I also express my condolences for the 5 injured Cambodian civilians, and I call on the Cambodian people not to be tricked into being used as human shields (if this was indeed the case). As for the Royal Thai Army, they should apologize and publicly explain why, if they truly knew that Cambodian civilians were being used as human shields, they chose to return fire with live ammunition nonetheless.
UPDATE; Cambodia's Kiripost reports that one civilian has died.
