P: daddy, I’m happy! (While eating lunch one sunny afternoon) Me: oh! Why buddy? P: I’m happy you got married! And to mommy! Me: lol P: I like the both of you! And now we get to meet!
First day of school. Paxton at breakfast. “What if someone doesn’t like me?” :1 aw kiddo. They’re gonna love you. And if they don’t, we don’t care about them.
Talking to emilyn before bed about a growth mindset and how it’s ok to not be good at something when you first try it. That practice makes you better and better. She says “but daddy, you don’t have to practice to be a good hugger. Everyone knows how to hug right away!” Melted.
Hugging my kids tighter today. Prayers for those in conflict who can’t.
Watched Into the Spiderverse on Netflix and got the the part where Kingpin was fighting Spider-Man. Emmie - why are they fighting? Me - explaining their reasons Emmie - … why can’t they just have a talk? Me - 🥺🥲 oh my sweet child.
Paxton came down about 5 mins later and said “Daddy I couldn’t sleep last night I was so busy thinking about Chinese New Year!” And I said what about buddy? “Thinking about eating turnip cake and radish cake. Mmm…” lol. This kid. Little dude melts my heart too.
Emilyn just came into my office and gave me $2.35. She wanted to give me lucky money for Chinese New Year. I was wondering why she asked me to open her piggy bank for her this morning. 😭 I’m shook at how she’s so amazing.
Emmie (overheard at breakfast): “Paxton what do you want to be when you grow up?” Pax: “A singer! To sing Justin Beaver songs and This Night [Aviici]” Em: “nooooo! You have to make up your own songs!”
“Emiwyn, I think it’s squished rice.” Paxton, describing congee to his sister.
Emilyn when I was showing her pictures of turtle necks and scrolled past some guys. “Oh They look handsome on some boys!”
Pax: “I always ask emmie to watch paw patrol but she never wants to watch it! I think she’s getting too old for paw patrol…” Emmie: “no I’m not! I just wanna watch something else all the time.” 😆
Me out for a walk with Pax around the block. Me: take us home bud! Do you know where we live? Pax: no! I’m lost! Me: what are we going to do! Pax: oh no…I’m going to have to eat the mushrooms. Me:…. Pax: and I don’t even like mushrooms… 😞 Me: lol what!?
Me: What happens when someone is mean to you at school? Pax: You punch them! Me: What?? No! Pax:…In the penis!! Me: … 🤦🏻♂️
Emmie: Daddy I like the rain because it makes the pears juicy! (We have a pear tree in the backyard)
Overheads my 3 yo and 5 yo whispering out in the living room. Paxton: omgosh it’s daddy’s birthday tomorrow??? Emilyn: yea!! But keep it a secret! He doesn’t know! Paxton: can we get him a palm tree?? He LOVES palm trees!! Lol.
My 5yo baby girl just told me she gets her peaches up in Georgia and her weed from California.
Pax: daddy the other night I had a good dream about you! Me: oh yeah buddy? What was it! Pax: you were eaten by a mountain lion! And he went nyum nyum nyum! Me: I don’t think that was a good dream… Pax: yeah…I was sad. It wasn’t a good dream. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
