One billion people are living with obesity now! It’s the food environment, social pressure, & normalization of eating hyperpalatable food. Worst - people are SO confused about nutrition. We have to simplify the dialog. Focus on eating just enough food, keep it whole & simple.
Macros don’t matter. There are healthy diets on all sides of macro ratios. Evidence supports low fat and higher fat, high carb and lower carb diets. Instead of calculating ratios, emphasize: 1. Whole foods instead of processed products. 2. High fiber instead of refined foods.

@PlantDietitian Couldn't agree more! It's like foods are only about the macros, they're not! Nutrition is a complex subject and the same food has many benefits to the body. It's not just that 1 food does 1 thing, it's that 1 food is made up of loads of molecules and each of them plays a role.
@PlantDietitian Wood and cotton are also "carbs." it's a really poor way to describe food. It's always the symphony rather than a single instrument. I think I just paraphrased T. Collin Campbell maybe?
@PlantDietitian Yes! I always tell my patients - not all carbs are created equal. Quinoa isn’t the same as a cupcake. Carbs don’t need to be demonized the way they are.
