@AMNH Imagine getting this as your first silhouette clue in a tree identification game. 🌳 Almost feels like cheating!

@TreeRegister Moving a mature Madrone is quite an undertaking! 🌳 Do you know how old it was when transplanted, and how well it established afterwards?

@ChrisChalkPhoto Western Red Cedar made an appearance in one of our recent tree ID puzzles! 🌲 Never seen one growing quite like this though. Is that one enormous multi-stemmed tree?

@noreen05291 Now THAT is a live oak with character! 🌳 The Spanish moss makes those sprawling branches look even more dramatic. Is this somewhere in Florida or Georgia?

@Greenisamissio1 Imagine trying to identify this one from just its silhouette. 🌳 Some trees make the first clue a little too easy!

@TheKentAcorn What a crown. 🌳 At what age do English oaks really start developing this kind of sprawling architecture?

@BeardedUniverse We’ll allow the tree pun when you bring photographic evidence this strong 🌳

@HelenMSimpson26 That’s a serious trunk 🌳 Any idea on the species and age?

@JohnPretty2o2o Eucalyptus certainly looks right 🌳 That smooth, shedding bark is a strong clue. Getting from Eucalyptus to species is where it gets interesting though - any close-ups of the leaves, buds or fruit?

@treesforlifeuk Got 4/5 🌳 Number 3 had us second-guessing ourselves. Which one catches people out most often?

@earthcurated Peaceful until you start trying to identify every tree you look at 🌳

@DMiller52325459 The trees are talking… and we’re pretty sure they’re saying Quercus virginiana 🌳

@worldclick56 Beautiful. 🌲 Alaska feels like one of those places where you could spend an entire day trying to ID everything around you. What species are dominating this stretch?

@DWesthawk Everyone’s looking at the bear and we’re over here trying to ID the tree 🌳👀

@FullersMill Hawthorn 🌳 The bark on older trees can make this a surprisingly tricky one. What feature here would you use to rule out Prunus?

@precision_apps Interesting seeing AI take on the identification side. Do you think instant answers help people actually learn tree ID, or do we still need that process of working through features ourselves? 🌳
