Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve devs reveal Tasha was their most expensive character to make 🎮 Brand Director Kazutoki Kono opened up about why fan-favorite pilot Tasha Severski took longer to finalize than anyone else on the roster: "Work on Tasha started relatively early, and she was originally designed by a different artist. She is also the character that took the longest to finalize. Her story and direction were already set, but we kept modifying various aspects afterward — making her the character we refined the longest during development. That's why inside the development team, we jokingly call her 'the most expensive character.'" The twist? Kono admits he didn't see it coming — he was personally rooting for a different character (Kate Evans) and was surprised by how much the fanbase gravitated toward Tasha instead. He credits her personality, unconventional military fashion sense, and overall vibe for resonating so strongly with current trends. Ace Combat 8 launches in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
