Portage 1.0.6 is out for the Mac. MKV films now play right in the app, downloaded or streamed, with their DTS and TrueHD sound, subtitles and picture in picture.

Portage 1.0.7 is out for iPhone and iPad. When a film needs a little help to play, a badge in the player now says so, and you choose whether Portage does it. HDR films in MKVs play now too.

Portage 1.0.6 is out for iPhone and iPad. An AV1 film your iPhone can't play now converts to a copy it can, and HDR films keep their HDR when they convert.

Portage is live on Product Hunt today. I'm here all day. Try it on the screen in front of you and tell me what breaks.

Tomorrow Portage launches on Product Hunt. It plays your own Plex, Emby or Jellyfin library on the screen in front of you: a Chromecast, a hotel TV, the browser in your car. Which screen should it work on next?

Portage 1.0.5 is out: MKVs now play right in the app. Downloaded or streamed, on iPhone and iPad, with their audio and subtitle tracks, AirPlay and picture in picture. DTS and TrueHD soundtracks play too.
@DoNotComply23 Good plan. For the iPhone side, with MKVs in the mix: I make Portage, a Plex, Jellyfin and Emby player for iPhone and iPad. As of this week it plays MKVs as they are, DTS and TrueHD sound included, and can download them for offline. portage.rikard.dev/guides/mkv-iph…

Downloads in Portage don't need Plex Pass. I wanted a whole season on my phone before a flight. Save the original file or a smaller copy, and it shows up in the Files app.
When a TV can't play a file, Portage can make a copy it can, right on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, with presets for Apple TV, Chromecast and iPhone. Nothing is uploaded and your server does no extra work. Pause it and carry on later.
Portage casts to any web browser. Open tv.rikard.dev on a TV, a laptop or the browser in your car, then scan or type the code it shows. Your Plex, Emby or Jellyfin library plays there, at home or away.
Portage started in an Airbnb. We had an old Apple TV and couldn't stream from Plex to it, so I built an app that could. It's a free player for Plex, Emby and Jellyfin on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and it casts to Chromecast, DLNA TVs or any web browser. apps.apple.com/app/id68162528…
