I wanted to write an uplifting thread about the 60th Anniversary of The March on Washington. I wanted to celebrate the fact that in a couple of weeks, I too will celebrate my 60th and yet was also at the March, nestled in my mother's womb. My tiny Mom, who despite 1/
being thought to be overdue (I tease her and say I just wanted to be a September #Virgo) and despite protestations by my Dad and both sets of grandparents because of her "delicate condition" insisted she wasn't going to miss this. It finally dawned on me that 2/
like my aversion to eggs, which she lived on during her pregnancy, my lifelong passion for politics and history was forged in her being there. So proud of her for going. She's not normally a bold person but she has her moments, and I have her Taurus stubbornness. But 3/
I'm not in that uplifted mood I thought I'd be in. Things like what happened in #Jacksonville are one reason. Despite all that we've endured and contributed to this nation, in 2023, we are still being hunted like prey on the whims of hate-filled white people. 4/
@PortiaMcGonagal At that point in your development in the womb - week 25 or so I think -you could hear things going on - mom's and dad's words -loud noises - music. Somewhere in your subconscious is that speech and the music. 🥹 Your mom knew what she was doing . Moms are magic like that.
