Well, I've officially accepted a spot in the next Doctor of Ministry cohort at Nashotah House. So that's some excellent news in the midst of a trying week. Looking forward to spending more time at one of my very favorite places.

Thanks be to God for the gift of the Spirit, because I was positively ill with grief, exhausted, had no sermon, and was not eager to go to church. The Mass was magnificent, the people were such a gift, a sermon came to me, and I felt the true healing power of Christ at work.
Last night we passed a local beer hall so busy that cars were parked on the grass. I said to my husband, “I look forward to the day when church is so crowded that we have to have people park on the grass.” And today was that day (!)
I like working alone, but wow, I wish I had an associate to take the Mass tomorrow for “my pet died less than 24 hours ago” Sunday.
We’re taking Archimedes to the vet for the last time at 1:00 pm today. Please say a prayer.

She is the perfect cat. We love her very much.
Things not looking good for Archimedes 😓 We insisted upon at least one more night with her. Brought her home and are making her comfortable. We tried one more Hail Mary of a drug, should know by the morning if it helped anything. The price of love is grief.
Praying this evening for one of our animals to recover and for good weather on Saturday when we need to do more land clearing. Have apparently become a pioneer. (But seriously pray for my cat 😓)

Guys, I brought Archimedes to the vet this afternoon (she’s been unwell 😓), and the front desk informed me that an anonymous someone has said that they will cover all our vet bills. They won’t give me any more information other than to say that our money is “no good here” 😭😭😭
Truly nothing like the adrenaline rush of waking up to the pager alarm and having a guy scream “GRAB AN AXE” in your face within the first ten minutes of consciousness. Truly cleansing.
Good morning from post brush fire St. Florian in my locker. He’s looking far more dignified than I did rolling out of bed and responding to this call in my pajamas this morning.

Spent the day training on the ambulance while my husband and some guys from church started clearing the spot on our land where the house is going to go 🙂

My friend's family came to the decision that as soon as their kids asked to receive Communion, they would go with it. Yesterday, as the family was kneeling at the altar rail and I was about to pray a blessing over her, their little girl "asked".
I'm very new to this whole priesthood thing, but I'm already relating to some of the things @PotentiaEtActus says about the sheer sweet privilege God affords us. I love that my heart is still a bit of a puddle from yesterday morning, and I look forward to melting many more times.

@vicarswifetobe I'm so sorry. The sound of children in church is a blessing - they are bringing their whole selves to worship. I really missed them post-pandemic and rejoice in them now. It enriches the whole community when children grow up with a sense of 'church family'.
@vicarswifetobe Maybe the response next time should be that it would be so nice if someone would start a crèche rota so that you and the other parents get a chance to participate fully in the service too?
@vicarswifetobe Totally reasonable response on your part. As 50% of a childless couple I make a point of smiling at noisy children and going up and going up to and saying hello to them at the end of a service. A noisy church is one that’s alive. No one so many people feel uncomfortable.
Leaving church with a real “why bother” feeling having been told wee one was too loud. I cannot express how angry and devastated it makes me. 3 kids in church today, 2 under 2’s laughing, having fun interacting and - yes - running around at the back. I just can’t 😭.

First time wearing a maniple today: please, Lord, don’t let me knock anything over.
One very kind thing people in church can do to be hospitable to families with young children is not sit at the back.
Update: thank you so much for the prayers. Dad is currently stable. He has sepsis and pneumonia so his poor lil’ body in heart and kidney failure is working very hard. Please keep praying and thank you so much for your prayers this far.
