America is only coherent as an empire built on pillaging the ever shifting periphery, internal and external, which has slowly reduced the breadth of viable ideological positions to various visions of individualism. Trump is just an extremely expressive cultivar of the staple crop

Regardless of the outcome at this point, I really hope this outcome ends the idea that Trump's first term was some sort of fluke, that we as a country are 'better than that.' Naive, see-no-evil ass position that self-sabotages the work of building an holsitic alternative vision.

There are a lot of problems with this. but I want to highlight the claim that this system lasted "almost 1,000 years" which speaks to how the Middle Ages are extended & essentialized. The core features of this system emerge in the 8th/ 9th cent. and are mostly gone by the 16th.

Feudalism was actually a pretty good system. Here’s why: -everyone had a defined role that served society as a whole: peasants, vassals, and lords all had responsibilities to each other -it was extremely decentralized -it’s hierarchy ensured long-term stability -with

Canada's decision to cut immigration by 21% will mean negative population growth for the next two years. And if they don't plan for degrowth, they will trigger a different and worse problem.

Not much to say about VICE trying to 'bring back' Waypoint (without first even paying severance to those they fired last year). Only this: I think we built a thing that would be pretty hard to puppet. Good fucking luck.

instead, I'm bleeding into my sock and he's hollering "her lips are wet with venom her posture serpentine she'll touch my arm and flowers grow there, vile and obscene." my brother in christ, now is not the time for pillow talk.

The more appropriate song to do that to would be Army of Cops by the same band, right when JR Hayes is like "why would god create something so weak/unless he/wanted it to suffer"

Not a particularly religious person but I will cop to reading Augustine's Confessions more frequently than a lot of other philosophy. Anyways, it's hilarious that I might have fractured my ankle doing a Very Routine kickturn while listening to Towering Flesh by Pig Destroyer.

For two: that whole entire playbook is cracked wide open and running on any cultural angle the right can make it fit and twice if it won't fit.

that shit is too on point. The next verse is more pointed: all her shrugged little movements and their despotic majesty in the midst of such perfection I can't help but feel diseased

I refuse to believe that at least one writer working on Malenia, Blade of Miquella or Goddess of Rot wasn't at least a little bit of a Pig Destroyer fan because Towering Flesh's breakdown is too on point to not be Malenia-coded. pigdestroyer.bandcamp.com/track/towering…

It's been a year and change and I'm glad we did it if nothing because my dad celebrated our moving out with a catastrophic health problem and followed it up with another one a year later.

There's a rawness to early Citizen albums that's hard to escape. I want to know what I've been fighting for I want to know what I've become And is there something else I'm waiting for? Or is the damage finally done? citizenmi.bandcamp.com/track/roam-the…
