How AI is actually used in private credit: real use cases, vendors and demos, plus BDC filings read the day they land. Sourced. Not advice.privatecredittech.com New York, NYJoined October 2026
@rdominguezibar@veritusagent@joshuamarch On the institutional side, servicing automation starts with the data feed. Versana says it covers over 11,000 facilities and $4.8tn of active commitments, and its agent-bank loan data now flows straight into Allvue's investment accounting.
@NickNemo17 Fitch's review of 8 US BDCs puts a number on it: non-accruals averaged 2.7% of debt at cost, against 2.5% for all Fitch-rated BDCs in Q2. It expects asset-quality pressure to continue into 2027.
@briandelucia The money is arriving: direct-lending funds raised $129.15bn in the first nine months of 2026, up 35% and the most in Preqin data back to 2016. Deploying it is harder. Q3 lending fell 28% year on year to $49.77bn (PitchBook/LCD).
@tradingawayJBA The flow was lopsided too. Reuters, citing PitchBook/LCD: $16.39bn of direct-lending loans refinanced into the syndicated market in Q3, against just $2.60bn moving the other way. In 2022 and 2023 the net flow ran toward direct lending.
@LeylaKuni Worth reading next to Fitch's income numbers: NII at Fitch-rated BDCs fell from 5.4% of average portfolio at cost in 2025 to an annualized 4.8% in 1H26, which it tied to lower yields and rising non-accruals.
An AI agent ran a US-listed BDC's quarterly-filing reconciliation, 500+ checks in all. Each run went from about 20 hours to under 30 minutes plus another hour of human sign-off (vendor-reported).
TresVista is adding these agents to fund admin.

LSEG buying Octus says private credit data is turning into a terminal business.
The open question is the rest of the stack: loan-level marks, docs and covenant tracking, portfolio monitoring. Someone has to own it
S&P, Moody's, Bloomberg, or a PE-backed roll-up? Who moves next?
@OctusCredit@LSEGplc@DDInvesting Interesting to see the pieces line up: FinDox ('22), LoansIntel ('24), Sky Road ('25) and LevPro ('26), and now the whole stack goes to LSEG. Docs, loan data, portfolio management and deal flow all under one roof.
@int_mon_econ Banks are also keeping the loans while selling the risk. Deutsche Bank's CFO said SRTs gave 75-80bp of CET1 relief at end-Q2, and it is working on one referencing about $2bn of subscription lines.
@ASTimes_ Allvue's own survey shows where the gap is: 87% of firms use AI for due diligence and document review, but 3% apply it to reconciliation. Loan operations is where interoperability like this matters most.
@LegalSolutions@NoeticaAI Lawyers' agents are getting the market data side too. Octus says Harvey's diligence, litigation and research agents now pull its covenant and restructuring data directly through its MCP connector.
@FirstSquawk Confirmed this morning at $3.535bn in cash, with closing expected in H1 2027 subject to regulatory approval. LSEG sizes the private markets data, workflow and access segment at $7-9bn, growing at a double-digit rate.
@FinancialNews LSEG's release puts Octus at over $300m of expected 2026 revenue and an adjusted EBITDA margin of around 40%. It also says customers already reach Octus data through an MCP connector or AI workflows, not just its own platform.
@IlliquidInsight The borrowers who can refinance into syndicated loans are usually the healthier ones. What's left looks weaker: Moody's says counting PIK switches and maturity extensions lifts private credit defaults from 4.0% to 5.8%.
@debt_serious That's market' is getting easier to check. @hebbia now pulls @OctusCredit covenant and deal data in through an MCP connector, and says customers use it to compare a deal's covenant package with similar deals.
@HousingWire Asset-based lenders are applying the same idea to loan tapes before each advance. In one public-data example, counting extended loans that now report current moved 60+ day delinquency from 4.1% to 5.7% of the pool.
@PitchBook A concrete test is the CIM screen. In one worked case, 6.6x leverage on lender-adjusted EBITDA vs a 5.5x fund limit is a no-go found in minutes. Faster is easy to measure. Better still needs a VP deciding what to chase.
@business Facility lenders are writing that distance into documents too. First Eagle's BDC line now caps broad software at 20% of eligible collateral (8-K, Oct 5). 26North's JPMorgan line caps recurring-revenue loans at 15% (8-K, Oct 16).
