Yesterday I focused Ashden's rig and plotted it into a lighting desk. The first time I've done that, very fun and gives a sense of the scale a big project would be.
First day putting up Ashen's rig plan to use, rigging and wiring in everything he wanted in.
Learning to use a lighting desk.
This week we've been having a try with some tools, different power tools such as a circular saw, table saw and corded drills.
Great experience helping set up and take down this show, I learned about running cables underground and taking them back out, a quick knot tying session, set building and much more. Thoroughly enjoyable and educational time
Totally sold out run, over four incredible nights of DarkMagic @DoddingtonHall Thanks to our intrepid audiences who braved the darkness (and the weather!) and to the crew/production team from @lincoln_college The hex was lifted!... until next year. Happy Halloween everyone
Last week we learned about safety working at heights. Different types of harnesses (Fall Arrest and Work Positioning) and that lanyards are used to keep you and your tools attached when at height.
Learning the basics of cable management, making sure the cables were all neatly placed with enough slack to move them accordingly.
This mornings session with @garymalam included learning about cable management and I also braved my fear of heights in the scissor lift! :)
Fist time doing a rehearsal mark up at college today. Learned about centre lines and setting lines used to help the rest of the mark up.
Back lighting can also be used in different colours to change the emotions given off by a performer without drowning theur face in colour and losing features.
Back lighting can be used to add depth to the performance, without it the stage is perceived as flat to the audience and it becomes hard to tell where set and performers are in relation to each other.
The angle is now optimal at around 45°. This gives the best view of the face and the key aspects; the eyes and mouth.
As the light is moved further forward and the angle is around 70° you begin to see more facial features although the shadow from the fringe lessens the impact.
The actor is lit by top light, because the light is directly above you can see little facial features.
In lessons last week we looked at lighting. Up lighting can give a creepy effect on both set and actors when taking the shadows into account.
