I've been working on a 3rd revision to my engine, which shrinks the #voxels and gives an 8x (512 cubic) detail increase, among a dozen other improvements in world gen and view distance. The scene composition and lighting isn't quite there yet, but here's a preview of the updates.
@ProgrammerLin I think this is the future, it’s like building worlds with atoms, and they’re ever shrinking until with clever coding and/or computing power we end up with something close to the real thing. Great work🙂
@ProgrammerLin this stuff is incredible and has been a joy to follow
@ProgrammerLin Weirdly prefer the original look, lower res... Good job nonetheless
@ProgrammerLin I'm sorry, but no f*cking way. No way you were able to do a 8³ shrink. It was already so impressive, but I'm pretty sure there's nothing out there with voxels so small. I'm struggling to spot them.. I always thought a voxel game would be the first photorealistic piece. Can't wait
@ProgrammerLin It looks visually stunning, jesus. Perhaps, does this affect performance?
@ProgrammerLin Can't wait for a video~ Really want to see some good old-fashioned destruction and a nature tour with the new resolution~
@ProgrammerLin This looks fucking nuts! I bet the picture looks even more beautiful if you link it from another website that doesn't apply heavy lossy compression to it, I'd love to use it as a wallpaper (UI disabled too, pretty please? :) ).
@ProgrammerLin Hi. Is there a demo of this or is it a work in progress? Whatever the case I am following you now. After playing Teardown, I want a game more like what I see you making!
@ProgrammerLin This is the most impressive voxel game engine I've ever seen .
@ProgrammerLin dude, you're a god-tier programmer if that runs at any sort of acceptable framerate
@ProgrammerLin Have you thought about doing something in between like 2 or 4x detail increase instead of 8x? Potato computers exist and also there's a lot of people that like the smaller size. Anyways, I love how it looks!
@ProgrammerLin It's gorgeous but unless this is vastly more optimized than Teardown people would need a super computer to run this with real time physics.
@ProgrammerLin Can I donate money somehow ? I want to make sure this becomes a reality. Keep up the absolutely amazing work dude !
@ProgrammerLin Holy shit man! i will miss the pixelart painting view
@ProgrammerLin This has gone from quite impressive to crazy black magic
@ProgrammerLin I wanna see how water looks and performs with this update
@ProgrammerLin Impressive stuff! Do you simulate water and physics at this level of detail ?
@ProgrammerLin Fidelity-wise this is incredible, but artistically i prefer the larger voxels
@ProgrammerLin i discovered you today though youtube and you are my new best friend ;) But seriously , looks really really cool ! Can't wait to see where you are going to take this !
@ProgrammerLin My man this is ridiculous, I love it! Look at that fuckn bark!
@ProgrammerLin Incredible that this is the same game. As always an inspiration
@ProgrammerLin doesn't even look like a voxel game anymore… r u selling it yet? x]
@ProgrammerLin Awesome! You are getting close to this one youtube.com/watch?v=nr5JqY…
@ProgrammerLin Okay, how the heck. Would you do a phone/zoom interview with me? I'm a hobbyist, and I'd love to ask you some questions.
@ProgrammerLin even if it will take years, i will play your game. It looks really cool
@ProgrammerLin Wait what? Wow. Quite interested to see this in action.
