Once a manager reviewed an analyst’s presentation. Instead of tearing it apart, he circled what worked first, then guided on what needed fixing. That guy didn’t walk out defeated, he walked out motivated. Red Pen Mindset: Feedback that builds people up, not tears them down.
I once watched a leader close a deal differently. The client already agreed. Most stop there. But he asked: “One thing we still haven’t solved for you?” That revealed a hidden concern. It turned a deal into a relationship. The smart move isn’t to speak more. It’s to ask better.
2 managers I can't forget and I met them along a long journey. One ripped into his teammate. The task got done, but the spark was gone. The other said, “You made a mistake, but here’s how I know you can do better next time.” One broke confidence. The other built it. #Leadership
Being the “fixer” in every meeting feels like leadership but it’s not. It breeds dependency, burnout, and weak teams. Great leaders don’t solve every problem. They create an environment where solutions emerge without them in the room. Ask, instead of giving answers. #Leadership
