"Well done. You managed to shoot a stationery, 14 foot peaceful creature with a high velocity rifle. Very sporting!" ~ @rickygervais. RT if you want a WORLDWIDE ban on #trophyhunting.
@ProtectWldlife @rickygervais That is so disturbingly sick
@ProtectWldlife @PairicDuffy @rickygervais #TrophyHunting - the “sport” of cowards
So. Do you know when male giraffe become older they cannot reproduce anymore and they kill off the younger bulls who can breed this is not all about trophy hunting. It actually helps the Species in a lot of cases. Then most of the meat goes to the villages in the surrounding areas and the money goes to more conservation for all wildlife
@ProtectWldlife @rickygervais I don’t disagree to how lame it is but these are the ppl who pay for wildlife management in a lot of those situations. But ya if you could secure donors etc great, just don’t wanna cut the funding source for the rangers and the facilities etc or we’ve got bigger problems
@ProtectWldlife @rickygervais In the real world, this kind of hunting pays for the existence of these animals, which would otherwise be poached into extinction
@ProtectWldlife @rickygervais Yeah, locals tend to identify older and suffering creatures in their areas. They assign guides to rich tourists who then hunt the critter. The result is an improvement to the local economy, a healthier critter population, and a reduction in poaching.
