Your regular reminder that if not for the Trump and Bush tax cuts, federal revenues would keep pace with federal spending indefinitely. Instead, these tax cuts have added $10 trillion to the debt. The so called "party of fiscal responsibility" is full of it.
@RBReich The problem is not that we are under taxed. The problem is the government over spends. The money is ours to begin with.
@RBReich What are you talking about? The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has resulted in record revenues to the Treasury. A real economist would understand that profligate spending in excess of revenues, not tax cuts, adds to the debt

@RBReich There’s an even better way to make sure that federal revenues keep pace with federal spending: Don’t spend more than your revenue!

@RBReich Robert, revenues increased (IRS data) with the Trump tax cuts. The only way the Dems reduce the deficit is through higher taxes to the rich and this tends to increase expenses on the middle class. Cut spending.
@RBReich @LukeInSoCo You’re saying this like thats a good thing If the government spends endlessly, they can tax indefinitely ? The government is comprised of people Why should those people spend and not the people that are earning the money?
@RBReich The government has a spending problem, not a taxing problem
@RBReich Maybe stop wasting trillions on useless social programs?
