@litr250 Hey Class! In Literature, Mimesis refers to how artists imitate or mimic the real world through their work. Up to this point, how well is the real world imitated in The Lighthouse? Can you connect the excerpt we read for class on Tuesday to your own life at all? How?
@litr250 Mimesis is the use of imitation or mimicry and is a way in thinking about literature, art, or the world in general. Mimesis argues that imitation is a powerful tool in how we develop art, clearly evidenced here as a cold blooded predator is transformed into a soft pool toy.
@litr250 I think that with out a doubt that having a background in literary theory changed how you read as it gives you tools to develop your thoughts on the meaning of a text. Personally, I have not seen a huge jump in comprehension at this point but hope to as we learn more theory.
