Good thread on the real lesson of the Kamtza/Bar Kamtza story. Rav Matisyahu Solomon of Lakewood said If someone cuts you off you have a right to be angry. Shooting them in response is Sinat Chinam. Chinam also means “open-ended”, hatred with no boundaries leads to destruction.

I've been thinking a lot about "sinat hinam." It's always bugged me. First because hatred is rarely baseless. It's more often a resentment and anger that flows from needless but real injury. Nobody thinks their anger is baseless. Usually it's thrown around as an accusation. 1/

An iconic image: A group of Jewish soldiers in the German Army gather on a frosty Chanukah in 1916 to kindle the menorah and warm themselves by its light. But who is the chaplain in the center? I believe I have the answer.

@EGalimidi9 Great play idea, but it should have been a false start on Knox. He simulated a snap.

In Panama for the chasunah of a talmid, Rav Herschel Shachter spends time with the chassan on the day of the chuppah, preparing...with the blatt gemara and a regular first seder

@EGalimidi9 I'm starting to love the sad Josh Allen face as much as I used to enjoy the sad Tom Brady face.

@MisfitTorah Also, LA has too high a price of living. How can a teacher afford to live anywhere near YULA?

@plindseyusa @politicalelle I hope this would force "the best" universities to have a tiered tuition system based on income. I don't think they would want to be seen as excluding all lower-income applicants

Federal loans to cover college tuition are what allows colleges to hike up tuition. End federal education loans. There would be lots of hollering, but if you think $70K per year for college is absurd, it’s because it is. End this farce.

@LHSummers Why isn't the government focused on tying student loans to college affordability? Any college that is eligible for student loans should need to demonstrate they are fiscally responsible or the cycle of high tuition will never end

@sullydish As a Rabbi in San Francisco in 2011 a circumcision ban qualified for a ballot initiative, but it was found unconstitional. Interestingly the push was from far left who were against making physical changes to children who were too young to consent.
