The AMPTP saying actors take on “no risk” is a wild thing to tell a group of people - a group including minor children - who went back to in-person work sooner than anyone except grocery clerks and ER drs while a deadly pandemic was still raging. And actors couldn’t wear masks.
I honestly think this is why we're all so angry, apart from $$, etc. They should be treating all of us, above & below-the-line, with the respect we at least PRETEND to show veterans or first responders or whatever. Instead they act like we're entitled children they owe nothing to
@RachelShukert @LauriDonahue Of course not. To the AMPTP the money making machine must go on, regardless of any risk.
@RachelShukert the standard covid protocol for the productions i've worked on has actually been incredible (as it should be & across all industries) but the idea there's no risk becoming an actor when, quite notoriously, few actors ever make it is absurd. what's a riskier profession to attempt?
@RachelShukert @MikeRoyce I can’t think of a riskier profession that doesn’t involve the potential for physical danger than being an actor.
@RachelShukert Being an actor or writer is terribly risky because if and when you work is entirely at the mercy of others. You control nothing.
@RachelShukert And the first thing to go once the government mandates were lifted is frequent on-set testing to ensure unmasked workers are remotely safe. It’s all risk for anyone with underlying/pre-existing conditions. 😩
