@RadioFreeTom We are giving Ukraine decades old equipment we were about to destroy. In fact it costs more to destroy it than to give it to Ukraine.
@RadioFreeTom @Kasparov63 So, it’s a transfer from the taxpayer to arms manufacturers?
@RadioFreeTom I do believe most Americans don’t care and if they did “understand[]” it, they still would believe their own money should be spent here… on them. Rebuild our industrial base by renovating our dying cities instead of getting us picking sides in foreign wars, for example.
@RadioFreeTom "Another opportunity to note here that most Americans have no understanding of foreign aid" - So true. Thank you for your service @RadioFreeTom .
@RadioFreeTom It's bad enough that most Americans have no understanding - it seems like there are plenty of members of Congress who have no idea, either.
@RadioFreeTom @DavidMastio Ohh it's very clear what it buys (swampies like you) and that's why we're against it
@RadioFreeTom @GulliAz McConnell is totally correct!
@RadioFreeTom More Bombs+More Jobs= Feeding the Military Industrial Complex.
@RadioFreeTom Legislators also have no idea
@RadioFreeTom Well, you just challenged me to do a little reading on it. I knew conceptually it's a good thing but adding some details, including the percentage of our budget, was my lesson for the day. Hopefully, I can remember some of these valuable factoids for use later.
